How can workshops using fairy tales benefit organisations and corporations?
Fairy tales, like dreams are psychological stories which teach us through their symbols and metaphors about the challenges and tasks we encounter in life; helping us to face the truth without projecting the difficulties onto others or the outside situation. Fairy tales were originally for adults not for children. They contain wisdom which is of great psychological value and in Fairy Tale Workshops for Organisations we use a series of creative exercises to enter into the challenges facing the organisation. This is far more effective and creative than meeting things head on. Thinking and experiencing ‘out of the box’ changes lives and helps shift perspectives. Learning to see what is not obvious at first sight is a gift that can be learnt through entering the world of fairy tale.
In these powerful stories about the human condition, we meet our own ‘stuck’ places: our blocks, our wounds, our dis-ease, fears and hidden potentials. We learn how to recognise the hidden parts of ourself and become more authentic, in touch with our true selves. Instead of blaming others in our immediate environment for any problems we have, we can begin to own and befriend the wicked dwarves, ugly sisters and evil stepmothers as parts of ourselves which we do not usually honour and acknowledge. They seem to blight our existence but only when we don’t bring them out into the light of day. Things change when we begin to identify them and make a conscious relationship with them. As we start being more honest with ourselves and others we also find that help materialises from unexpected sources (another theme in many tales). Getting closer to embodying our ‘beastliness’ frees us from being bewitched by that negativity. We learn how to fight the inner monsters and confront the wicked witch within and not just seeing the problem as out there. So these fairy tales are strong agents for change and bring redemption, wholeness and healing of the split-off parts of ourselves which can rampage through an organisation.
Eve will tailor the work to the needs of the organisation and use an appropriate fairy tale. Email her for more information.
